Finnish Daniel Davidsson waited a long time in the “hot seat” with his -10, so long that, in the end, he managed to tie for first place on the opening day of the PDGA Euro Tour Lone Star Disc Alutaguse Open (Estonia)! During a relaxed chat while watching his rivals play the difficult 15th hole, we commented that in Disc Golf, both players and fans remember mainly the highlights of the season—Daniel already has three podiums in Copenhagen, Nokia and Konopiště, each one showing his great quality—and not so much the bad moments, and that he is very motivated to fight for his first victory this year.
Tied with him is the Icelandic Blær Örn Ásgeirsson, unbeatable in his country and permanently in the Top 25 at European level, to whom today all the circumstances were favorable: used to the strong winds of Iceland he knew how to take advantage of the constant breeze that blew throughout the day and was very successful both in the drives and near the basket.
In third position and only one stroke behind were two local players who appeared in almost all the bets: on the one hand, Albert “Bazooka” Tamm whose great power gave him an advantage on a course with long holes like this one in Mäetaguse and who surprised even the most optimistic with a -6 in the first 8 holes to go through a somewhat “colder” part in the second half of the course, and on the other, Mauri Villmann who, after winning the general classification of the European Pro Tour 2023, is postulated as a contender for everything at this end of the season.
There will be more excitement tomorrow, which will also include the Masters categories.
